THE CENTRAL TRAINING PROGRAMME
The programme is essentially for GTP trainees but Professional Mentors and Subject Based Tutors are welcome to attend any of the meetings. The programme is designed to complement the training taking place in schools. The Central Training Programme identifies school-based tasks which have been designed to consolidate understanding in particular areas of study. Evidence of task completion can be evidenced in trainee’s portfolios. Sessions mostly take place every Thursday afternoon. Although mainly at Sandown High School, they are sometimes held at schools across the Island and in Portsmouth. Some training takes place over a whole day. All trainees are expected to attend the Central Training Programme unless exemption for prior learning has been agreed. Reasons for absence should be reported to the Partnership where possible in advance of meetings.
