Island NQT Induction -Equitable support, Quality Assurance and Training.

All qualified teachers who are employed in a state school in England must, by law, have completed an induction period satifactorly. The statutory induction period is the bridege between initial teacher training and a career in teaching. It combines a personalised programme of development, support and professional dialogue, with monitoring and an assessment of performance against the core standards. Each NQT’s induction programme should enable the NQT to build on and extend the knowledge and practice developed during initial teacher training and provide the foundation for continuing professional and career development.

The Isle of Wight Partnership has been commissioned by the Isle of Wight Local Authority as the Appropriate Body for Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) programme from 1st September 2009.  Susannah Campion and Vicky Elliott (NQT consultants) are leading this programme under the direction of Dominic Coughlin (Partnership Director).

There are 41 NQTs registered with the Isle of Wight Partnership for this year 92009/10). Those NQTs who started their induction period before 1st September 2009 retain the Isle of Wight Local Authority as the Appropriate Body.
